Sandlot Bat
Handcrafted , personalized wood bats.
For games, practice, keepsake or display.
Each Sandlot Bat looks different from any other. A Sandlot bat can be fully or partially stained and/or painted. A Sandlot Bat can be left natural (bare) wood, with no finish at all. A Sandlot Bat can be partially natural (such as the handle) and partially varnished. A Sandlot Bat can be fully or partially varnished in combination with other finishes (stain / paint). All stained areas are also varnished after the stain has dried for a couple of days. Multiple coats of varnish are always applied, with sanding between coats. Painting can be done, as I am using a new method to paint the barrel, while maintaining visibility of wood burned logo and name area. See the photos on the slideshow for an example of painted barrels. Handles can be painted, as well as any colored bands (painted rings around the center area). Sandlot bats are detailed by hand. Whether using it in games and/or practice, or for display, a Sandlot Bat is a winner!
Personalized

Sandlot bats are unique because they are personalized and woodburned. If you want a bat that has been created with craftsmanship, and is as much a piece of art as it is a weapon to destroy baseballs, you want a Sandlot bat.

The Sandlot logo, and any other lettering, is woodburned onto every bat by hand. Choose to have a name, nickname, team name, number, date, etc... The end of the bat knob and reverse side of the barrel can also be woodburned. Within reasonable limits, there are many options for woodburning. Whether it's "ALL-STAR", "THE GREAT HAMBINO" or a personal model number such as
"PRO MODEL W44"... all kinds of options are available. See the photos on this website to get examples of the many possibilities.
Sandlot Logo
The Sandlot logo was designed to be clear, simple and authentic. The style is designed with the thought of young ballplayers carrying their bat over their shoulder, with baseball glove slid over the handle bars, as they ride bikes to the sandlot to play ball.
Every Sandlot bat has the logo, but no two logos are alike, because they are all done by hand. As with every part of the process, the logo is not duplicated with any machinery, template or copy. Each logo is penciled on individually before woodburning is done.
Each bat, including the logo, will look different than the next due to variations in the type of wood, the grain on each specific piece of wood, and the different stain and/or varnish applied at finishing. That individuality is considered a good thing!
Finishing options
There are many options for the bat finish.
Stain and/or paint can be used on part, or all, of the bat, along with a couple coats of varnish after staining.
The bat can be left unfinished- all natural wood.
Part of the bat can be left unfinished, such as the handle half of the bat, which is somewhat popular for a bat being used for games or practice.
The handle half can be painted, and the barrel stained and/or varnished. Or painted handle, etc... many possibilities.
One or more stripes, rings or bands, whatever you want to call them, can be painted around the center area of the bat, if desired. This is a good way to add color.
All of these decisions help make every Sandlot bat a one-of-a-kind bat. Definitely a 'hit'!
