Sandlot Bat
Handcrafted , personalized wood bats.
For games, practice, keepsake or display.
Sandlot Bat started with the desire to make our own wood bats for using in games. Having two sons playing baseball, and being a baseball coach, I knew the need to train with wood bats and decided to make our own. My sons also played in tournaments where only wood bats were allowed. I decided on Sandlot as the logo, since my email address had been Sandlotjoe@... for many years. Originally I drove a couple hours to a lumber yard in Michigan and hand selected my stock. As the need grew to make bats for more and more players on our teams, I found suppliers to ship bulk packs of baseball bat billets that have already been rounded into dowels. From those dowels, Sandlot bats are created. Many Sandlot bats have been used at the Collegiate level, Elite Travel, and all the way down to a few Tee-Ballers! Sandlot Bats are also a home run as display / keepsake bats!
Hand made.
Best quality
Sandlot bats are not mass produced. Sandlot bats are not copied on a duplicating lathe. Each bat is turned using hand tools. Much care goes into making every Sandlot Bat to the specifications of the owner. Why not get the coolest bat around? Get a Sandlot Bat!

Northern White Ash
Rock Hard (Sugar) Maple
Just like the pros use, Sandlot bats are made from the best quality billets of Northern White Ash and
Rock Hard Sugar Maple.
Ash is slightly more flexible. Maple is slightly stronger. Ash has highly visible grain lines. For baseball crushing performance, Ash and Maple are both great choices.
Birch or Beech also available.

Woodburning
continued...
The aroma of Northern White Ash or Rock Hard Sugar Maple permeates the shop, as lettering is forever burned into the wood. Manufacturers use decals, stickers, laser etching or painting. Mass produced bats all look the same. For an everlasting, unique creation, you want a Sandlot Bat. Woodburning makes the difference. There is no bat like a Sandlot Bat.
Woodburning
Labor of love.
Every Sandlot Bat is given the authentic Sandlot logo and any lettering requested, using the art of woodburning. All woodburning is done by hand. It's a long process that begins with a pencil and an eraser. Adjustments to logo/lettering are made until everything looks perfect. After that, the tedious process of careful woodburning begins. Several hours of woodburning goes into every bat. continued-->
